The heavy Jesus statue depicts what its name implies: the sacred heart of Jesus Christ burning and visible on his chest. The Sacred Heart is one of the most revered symbols in the Roman Catholic Church and specifically represents Christ’s love for humanity through his sacrifice for their sin on the cross. Christ’s suffering is depicted on the sacred heart, with knives through it and crowns of thorns around it. Although he had to endure this pain, Christ’s love for humanity shone more brightly than the evil brought upon it, as the sacred heart “burned” in pain.
